At Little Adventures Nursery, health and wellbeing are not add-ons — they’re the foundation of everything we do.

From the food on our plates to the smiles on our children’s faces, we believe that a child who feels well, eats well, and is emotionally secure is a child who is ready to thrive.

In the early years, nutrition is vital. A balanced, varied diet supports physical growth, brain development, emotional regulation, and long-term health outcomes. That’s why we put food and nutrition at the heart of our day.

All meals are freshly prepared onsite (apart from Victoria Park where we partner with the local community centre but still have a 5* kitchen for food prep) in our 5-star rated kitchens by trained chefs who understand children’s dietary needs — and how to make food fun, colourful, and packed with goodness.

Our Head Chef, Lynne, brings over 8 years of nursery and school catering experience to our settings. Her dedication to child-friendly, nutritious meals recently earned her a finalist spot for Nursery Chef of the Year at the 2024 NMT Nursery Awards — a proud moment for our whole team!

Lynne doesn’t just cook. She leads:

  • Menu development using the Start Well framework
  • Tasting sessions and Cooking Club for children
  • Parent consultations, recipe cards, and allergen-friendly advice
  • Training and support for chefs across our nurseries

We follow national guidelines and go a step further by:

  • Offering a wide range of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins
  • Limiting processed foods and added sugars
  • Providing dairy and non-dairy options, with menus adapted to suit all dietary requirements
  • Ensuring meals are inclusive, multicultural, and seasonal
  • Encouraging children to explore food with confidence, from serving themselves to trying new flavours

Mealtimes at Little Adventures are sociable, supportive, and full of positive language around food — helping children develop a lifelong healthy relationship with eating.
