Family Adventures Group Managers’ Away Day

On Monday 20th July, we held a company Managers’ Away Day at the Family Adventures Group Training Centre, bringing together thirteen Nursery Managers and Senior Managers to reflect on leadership, educational practice and strengthening outcomes for children. Throughout the day, managers delivered presentations exploring the key ingredients of high-quality early years provision to help inform our Group Quality Strategy for 2027.

Mia from Little Adventures Stirchley focused on parent partnerships, highlighting that working closely with families is fundamental to children’s success. She explained that effective partnerships extend beyond communication and are built on trust, consistency, and ensuring parents feel valued, reassured and fully involved in their child’s learning journey. Drawing on best practice from her setting, Mia demonstrated how positive everyday interactions from the very first contact can significantly enhance children’s confidence and wellbeing.

Taia from Green Giraffe Penarth explored high-quality interactions and extending children’s learning, demonstrating how Montessori-inspired approaches foster independence alongside expert adult interactions, rich language modelling, child-led thinking and an intentional curriculum that responds to children’s interests while promoting meaningful learning.

Finally, Evie from Little Adventures Cheddar explored how strong educational cultures are intentionally created through clear leadership, a shared vision and consistent practice. Leaders were encouraged to reflect on their own culture, identify barriers to excellence and consider whether their teams shared common expectations. The session emphasised leading by example, maintaining high standards and using a continuous improvement cycle of Observe → Joint Reflection → Observe → Supervision.

The day concluded with managers committing to one meaningful change they would implement over the following 30 days to strengthen their educational culture and further improve outcomes for children.
