How does Little Adventures Nurseries keep children safe?

A safe, secure and carefully designed environment

Little Adventures Nurseries are purposefully designed with young children in mind. Our nurseries are equipped with secure entry systems, including password protection, key fob access, interlocking doors and intercom-controlled entry, so access to our buildings is always carefully managed.

Inside, rooms are thoughtfully arranged to suit different age groups. Age-appropriate furniture and activities all help reduce risks while still encouraging exploration and play. Outdoor spaces are also fully enclosed and regularly checked to ensure they are safe for active play.

Highly trained and vigilant staff

Our Nursery practitioners are trained to the highest standards, with ongoing professional development in safeguarding, paediatric first aid, health and safety, and child development. This means they are well equipped to respond quickly in emergencies and to spot any potential concerns early.

Just as importantly, staff are attentive and proactive, constantly supervising, engaging, and supporting children throughout the day.

Triangle of Safety

Your child’s safety is always our top priority. Our Triangle of Safety approach ensures we are prepared for every situation by focusing on careful supervision, recognising potential risks, and taking proactive action to keep children safe.

All our nurseries are equipped with anaphylaxis kits, LifeVac devices, and our staff are trained in advanced paediatric first aid, so we can respond quickly and confidently in an emergency. This combination of planning, training, and resources helps create a safe and secure environment where children can learn, play, and grow with confidence.

Strong safeguarding and child protection procedures

Each Little Adventures nursery setting follows strict safeguarding policies in line with national guidance. Staff are trained to recognise signs of concern, understand their responsibilities, and act quickly to protect children if needed.

Clear procedures are in place for reporting concerns, recording incidents, and working with external agencies when necessary. This ensures that children’s wellbeing is always the top priority.

Close supervision and appropriate ratios

Babies and toddlers require constant supervision; at Little Adventures nursery we follow strict staff-to-child ratios to ensure this. For younger children, ratios are higher, meaning more staff are available to provide individual attention, respond quickly, and meet each child’s needs.

This close supervision allows children to explore safely while having the reassurance of a trusted adult nearby.

Robust health and hygiene routines

Maintaining a clean and healthy environment is essential at Little Adventures Nursery. We follow strict hygiene practices, including:

  • Regular handwashing for staff and children
  • Frequent cleaning and sanitising of toys and surfaces
  • Safe nappy changing procedures
  • Careful food preparation and allergy management

These routines help reduce the spread of illness and keep children safe and well.

Safe sleep practices for babies

For babies, sleep time is handled with great care. Here at Little Adventures nursery, we follow current safer sleep guidance from the Department for Education and The Lullaby Trust to ensure babies rest comfortably and securely, with regular physical checks carried out by our team. Our calm, carefully prepared sleep environments help little ones sleep soundly and safely.

Sleep routines are also tailored to each child’s needs, ensuring they are comfortable, settled, and closely monitored.

Ongoing risk assessments and safety checks

Safety is not a one-time consideration; it’s an ongoing process. Little Adventures nurseries carry out daily checks of all areas, alongside regular, detailed risk assessments of both indoor and outdoor environments.

Any potential hazards are identified and addressed quickly, ensuring the space remains safe and secure at all times.

Clear policies and emergency procedures

Little Adventures Nurseries have well-established procedures for a wide range of situations, including:

  • Accidents and first aid
  • Fire safety and evacuation drills
  • Illness and medication administration
  • Collection and late pick-up

Staff are trained to follow these procedures confidently, ensuring children are protected in any situation.

Working in partnership with parents

Keeping children safe is a shared responsibility. We work closely with parents to understand each child’s individual needs, routines, medical requirements, and preferences.

Regular updates, open communication, and the use of the Famly app help keep families informed and reassured throughout the day.

A nurturing environment where children feel safe

Safety isn’t just physical, it’s emotional too. Little Adventures Nurseries focus on building strong, trusting relationships so children feel secure, valued, and supported. A child who feels safe emotionally is more confident to explore, learn, and develop.

A Safe place to grow

Little Adventures Nurseries are carefully structured to provide a safe, supportive environment where babies and toddlers can thrive. Through a combination of secure spaces, trained professionals, strong safeguarding practices, and close partnerships with families, every effort is made to protect and nurture your child.
